1. My cat was the daughter of a stray that came to live at our house. She was born in my house.


2. Its important that they are neurtured, all living things need to know they are loved when they are young, otherwise they can turn feral, mad or neurotic.


3. Ide keep my pet, love her to bits :)


4. Pet overpopulation is stupid and doesnt exist...it should be people overpopulation


5. Only when sick because our local vet is a rip off (if a good vet more likely to take it systematically) but our cat is healthy


6. In the bush, live in a nice place, nice people. Big house.

Questions..


1. I have 2 cats at the moment.. the first came from a stray pregnant cat I found and I kept the baby and found homes for the other and the mother.. The other is a baby of the one I kept.. the one and only litter she is going to have as she is spayed now and she only had the one kitten.. If I was ever to get another pet my first thought would be to go to the pound and adopt one from there..


too many homeless animals out there..





2. Yes its very important to have your animals neutered or spayed.. overpopulation is an epidemic that must be stopped.. most will die of malnutrition or be put down because nobody wants them.. the rest will run wild in the street and who knows what will happen to them..





3.Nomatter what I would have happen in my life.. my animals come with me.. they are part of my family now..

5. This question is difficult for many simply because the cost of a vet is outrageous..


I have taken my first cat to get her shots.. and to have her spayed.. as for another visit, if she is ill in any way.. she will go to the vet.. the other one I will have the same thing done to her too.. shots and spayed.





6. We have three within a 10 mile radius.. so it just goes to show you the need is there..

1.I have 3 cats. All of them are rescue kitties. One was a kitten found on a major highway and I almost hit it while it was a kitten. Another one was a kitten as well and my sister found it in the winter, in very bad health. The other was an adult and was pregnant, someone dropped her off at my Grandmother's house.





2. Yes I do think it is important to get them fixed. It helps their health. Also, there are so many dogs/cats that are homless, most of them are killed each year *A large amount of them* because no one will take them in or are unable to.





3. I would keep them. I've had cats all of my life and see them as my family and friends. They are very good around people and no matter what happens..I would always bring them with me.





4. It's where people dont fix their animals, can't keep the young and etc. There are so many homeless cats/dogs that most people cant even count it. Many of these animals are put to sleep because no one is able to take them in. *Plus humans worry so much about how overpopulated that animals get...yet humans are WAY overpopulated..





5. Well, if they are sick and need to be treated, then take them to the vet. But I also take my cats in atleast 3 times a year to get a checkup.





6. We have one and it's in another town. The only thing is that it's not a no-kill shelter...

Currently have 3 dogs, first one was from a breeder, second one was from the dog pound, and third was from a woman who found him as a stray..placed through a rescue... (So, I went to the rescue, they approved me, and then gave me her number since they thought he was a perfect fit).. If I were to get another one.. I think i'd go to the rescue I went to for the third.. they were very nice, talked to me for over an hour before approving me, and did not dismiss me outright because I did not have a house or vet records.. (he's my first that is actually MINE.. so, I didn't have one to take to the vet)





2.Do you think it is important that dogs and cats are spayed or neutered? Why or why not?





Yes and no.. I do not believe that ONLY show quality dogs are bred.. because to be honest, mutts tend to have less in the way of genetic disorders than purebreds.. , but I do believe that the people who breed their dogs should not allow for accidents, the dogs should be HOUSE dogs.. not caged outside.. socialized with a family.. someone who will keep any puppies that are not placed quickly.. I believe for most normal housepets.. they should be fixed.. not many people have the experience to deal with training a litter of pups.. nor do alot of people have experience dealing with unfixed animals.. who do tend to have more issues than fixed..





3.If there was a big change in your life such as moving or having a baby, what would you do with your pet(s)?





Baby, not going to happen. But, as for the other.. I've already had to face that.. I had to move back in with my mother (she has had several surgeries).. I had some other animals that I had to find homes for, but I did it .. My dog is staying with me however.. the future.. well, I can't see anything that would make me get rid of him.. This was the only one I ever searched for.. the other animals were ones people needed to get rid of quickly due to their own problems.. I took them in and cared for them.. and when I had no choice I found them great homes where they are still healthy and happy.. The other two I have currently are my mothers. but, I'm the one taking care of them now, so.. guess they sort of became mine.. (to be honest they always liked me more anyway) and I've known them for more than 8 yrs.. nothing will make me get rid of them either..





4.What is pet overpopulation?


It is the effect of accidental breeding causing an explosian of unexpected litters.. causing alot of problems, and making it so that many animals are put to sleep due to too many animals and not enough homes.. It's sad.. but to be fair people are overpopulated as well, and I don't hear us banning the people who are not rich, healthy and beautiful from having babies..





5.How often should pets go to a veterinarian?


I want to say it's every 6 months or so.. but I don't really keep it in mind... when the vet sends a notice (normally a few weeks before something is due) I make the appointment..





6.Where is your area shelter or humane society?


The rescue that I prefer is not local.. it is Bellweather Harbor in Freemont, Michigan.. (It is a great no-kill shelter that is very good at talking to you before approving or declining)





but, for local,


Noah Project is on Airline Drive I believe.. I dislike their policies.. I have had dogs my whole life, but was denied approval because I do not own a house.. I could prove that I was allowed a dog in the house I was renting, but it didn't matter, they never even talked to me.. instead the dog I was interested in sat there.. I checked about 6 months later and it was still there..





Humane Society.. honestly.. I don't remember.. I have the phone number for the humane society as well as vector control (the "pound") set in my phone.. Vector Control is about 10 minutes from my house.. one road over.. can't remember the name of the road for the life of me.. but know how to get there.. I think the humane society was originally with vector, but now they are seperate.. Normally neither of these will take cats.. they put them down immediately.. and Pitt's.. same deal... (Muskegon,Mi is one of the top 10 WORST places to own a Pitt according to many Pitt bull sites.. and they really are strict about it.. grr. poor pups..)





Another local rescue (no-kill) is petbuddies.. they take the dogs with the most potential out of vector and place them.. I don't think they have an office... it's a series of foster's.. they bring the animals to petco and such on the weekends and try to find adopters.
