Can you help with short survey regarding police traffic stops?
No,

white/Caucasian is not a ethnicity.

White is a color %26amp; Caucasian is a race.

Tell your teacher this is a flawed survey from the beginning.

I don't think anyone is going to answer this if they have any charges pending against them either.
Reply:If you active your email you might get some answers. I wouldn't put this much stuff out publically. It's hard to say my identity won't get revealed when it is trackable on here at least by Yahoo. Good luck!
Reply:I started to answer your survey, and as I progressed down the list, I noticed that the survery was concentrating more on discrmination rather than a true survey of how the average American feels about law enforcement in general.

I can safely say that in my nearly 30 years experience as a Police Officer, dealing with officers from other agencies and federal law enforcement agents, I've never met or worked with anyone that had or developed a particular method of operating based on the race of the person(s) being encountered.

The Los Angeles Police Department ran a recruiting campaign several years ago, in which a video montage showed LAPD officers of all different races.. all in uniform. The voiceover at the end of the commercial said "The Los Angeles Police Department.. we only see one color.. BLUE!"

And thats how the vast majority of officers I know of conduct themselves.

As A**hole is an A**hole, regardless of skin color, gender, religious or political bent.. etc. If you screw up, you're going to jail.
Reply:Sorry but my answer is NO I will not take your survey.
Reply:PLEASE CIRCLE YOUR BEST CHOICE OF ANSWER.

BTW, not to step on your survey and I'm not exactly sure what your assignment is, but here is a good resource for you:

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/sandlle.htm

From the section about traffic stops:

Police-Public Contact

In a nationwide survey conducted in 2005--

* Speeding was the most common reason for being pulled over, accounting for 53.3% of all traffic stops in 2005.

* The majority of drivers stopped by police felt they had been stopped for legitimate reason (86.2%).

* About 1% of the 17.8 million drivers pulled over by police in 2005 felt police had used or threatened excessive force against them.

Whats the best way to sell land?

i own a lot in a community approx 1/3 acre corner lot and i dont know how to sell it. We got it perk tested and surveyed and submitted the septic design but that keeps getting returned because they wont approve it yet? how can i just sell this land?

Whats the best way to sell land?
Hire a professional Realtor that sells homes or land in the community! Ask them how many lots they have sold, do they understand perk tests, etc. Just drive around the area and you can usually figure out who has the most signs up!

Good luck!
Reply:If you can't get a septic design approved, nobody can build on the lot, and you're legally required to divulge that, meaning that you're going to have a hard time selling it.

You might offer to sell it to the folks that have the bordering lots, so they can protect themselves against someone building there.

If poll questions are against the community guidlines...?

then why is there a polls and surveys category for people to place their questions under?

If poll questions are against the community guidlines...?
Hi *xoDEADox*,

Polling questions, such as “Who do you think will win the election?” or “What snacks do you buy for a football party?” are OK on Yahoo! Answers. Certain low-quality polling questions can easily be interpreted as chatting, so avoid posting low-quality polling questions.
Reply:Have wondered that too but questions like "What is the largest poll ever?" and "Who will win the playoffs? are OK (knowledgeable).

NOTICE: Most of the questions in P%26amp;S are chatting and are not knowledgeable.
Reply:EXACTLY !!! I've always wondered that.

:o)
Reply:There is more leeway there. That is why there are no P%26amp;S TC 's
Reply:Bite your tongue, they could remove the whole catagory.
Reply:I have always wondered the same thing??? That is silly of them, don't you think?? If you find out the answer, please fill me in. Thanks.

Brief Sex Survey for Women (18+ please!!!!!)?

Ok, my friends and I are having a debate that hopefully the esteemed yahoo community can help answer. We are trying to determine if there are demographic predictors of the female propensity (or lack thereof) for semen.

If you are a woman and over 18, please answer the following 5 questions as accurately as possible:

How old are you?

What state/province (US/Canada) or country do you live in?

What is your race?

What is your religion?

On a scale of 1-6 (one being "not at all", 6 being "soooo much"), how much do you enjoy semen?

Assuming the data that we gather from this experiment are reliable, results will be made publicly available for all interested parties.

Thanks and have a terrific day!

You need to be asking more in depth questions like where have you spent most of your life? (I only recently moved to Oregon from Washington, Maryland, and Alaska)

Questions removed without a reason in the polls and survey section?

Hello Badass Jesus (bender101z)

You have posted content to Yahoo! Answers in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. As a result, your content has been deleted. Community Guidelines help to keep Yahoo! Answers a safe and useful community, so we appreciate your consideration of its rules.

Question: do you pee in the shower?

Question Details: be faithful ;)

Violation Reason:

If you feel this content was removed in error, please contact Customer Care and tell us why.

Regards,

Yahoo! Customer Care

--------------------------------------...

So whats going on with a question like this? I see other questions like this all over the search engine.

Questions removed without a reason in the polls and survey section?
Hmmmmm, I don't see anything wrong with your question, especially since you said it was posted under Polls %26amp; Surveys. However, the unfortunate things is that there are MANY users who are just extremely report happy... especially when it comes to the "chatting" violation. It's as if they consider anything with the words "you" or "your" to be chatting, which is a violation of the community guidelines. For instance, they consider, "How long did it take you to graduate college?" to be chatting. It's absolutely ridiculous! So, I completely understand your frustration as I have been a victim of unjustified/malicious reporting.

Y!A's FAQ says that a question or answer will be removed if it's reported by one or more "reliable users." If the circumstance is more serious then the Answers staff may remove a question or answer themselves after reviewing it. However, the majority of the time they're just automatically removed and violation notices are issued, because of the way the Y!A system is designed. I personally feel the whole reporting/violation system needs to be changed because innocent questions and answers will be reported/removed while others, that are extremely offensive, are left alone. PLUS, I know that there are waaaaaay too many trolls disguised as "reliable users" who are out to get other users they don't like by wrongfully reporting them.

Furthermore, people who state their opinions are being reported as well. And Y!A says that having a strong opinion is NOT a justifiable reason for reporting someone. They just ask that users "do not use slurs to refer to groups of people, do not insult other members, and do not act in a belligerent manner towards others" when stating their opinions. Unfortunately other users still do report opinionated questions or answers regardless of the fact that they don't violate any of the community guidelines. This is EXTREMELY frustrating because honest Y!A users shouldn't have to pay the price for report happy trolls!

Now, Y!A doesn't list a reason for the violation because the majority of the time, the Y!A team isn't one who flagged your question or answer. When a user reports a question or answer they have the option to give further details as to why their reporting the question or answer i.e. "insulting other members." This will show up as the violation reason when the reported user receives the violation notice. Now, if the user DOESN'T list additional details, you won't receive a reason. I know this isn't the best format, but unfortunately that's the way it is.

Now, if you've received a violation notice you can appeal if you feel that you didn't violate any of the community guidelines. Just know that after appealing you'll receive an automated response that lists the community guidelines and then it will ask you to appeal again if you still believe your question or answer was removed unfairly. (Note: you may want to copy and paste your appeal's details and save it in a word document as you'll probably need to list it again in your final appeal). A couple of months ago I had a question and my points restored after turning over a violation notice that said I had been "chatting." So don't lose hope. People CAN actually win appeals. You just need to make sure that you address your case in a calm and concise manner as opposed to just asking, "Why?" or ranting. As a result the Y!A team will have a better understanding of the point you're trying to make.
Reply:Hello Badass Jesus,

Sorry to tell you that we are now governed with a first defense barrier when we post, it's called "Community Moderation", read ALL about it here :

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers...

I am including also a link to what is "chat"? :

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers...

And also Q %26amp; A formats :

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers...

Since you are the only person knowing textually your deleted question, with all of this information, you will be able to make or not an appeal.

Good Reading, and Good Luck !
Reply:Someone figured it is CHAT

CHAT = violation

You get this is someone reports you. Maybe they got offended by the topic, whereas something like "do you ever shower 3 times a day?" might not offend them.

So dont' ask questions other people might think are gross or yuk or sicko.

Just Curious Survey: What do you think of these ya profile page suggestions

'

We wanted to help yahoo improve your experience here.

What do you think of these improvement suggestions we'd like to make:

1. Add a bar graph showing the percentage of Questions and Answers that have been removed for violating community guidelines.

2. Add a bar graph showing the percentage of violations that were subsequently found to be erroneous (bogus).

3. Add a hit-counter so you know if other's are aware of your rules of engagement.

4. Add some bunnies.

Please specify which you like by number.

Every vote counts.

PS Fresh coffee and donus for all eligible voters.

FYI The coffee is hot!

.

Just Curious Survey: What do you think of these ya profile page suggestions
Do I need to be sober to vote? I'd say 3.
Reply:Thanks for Best Answer! .... and lol! Report Abuse

Reply:I like all of the above, really, seriously, I think they should all be on there. Also the number of questions and answers you have reported that would sure stop alot of the bogus reporting if not stop it all together. I say make Yahoo do the work since they are the ones who made the rules
Reply:Whilst those suggestion are all equally dee-lightful, Wonder likes suggestion #62. the best.

62. Add fluorescent love handled, donkey and goat drawings to accentuate the neo-fabrication of your youthful and buxom bosoms.
Reply:Everything's better with bunnies.

May I have tea instead of coffee?
Reply:4. add some bunnies. lol everything is better with bunnies XD
Reply:4. I'm sure Mr. Jack Rabbit will let them use his photos.

Smoking survey- Your First cigarette, how old & where'd you get it?

Given all the medical data now present. I’m curious as to why young teenagers start smoking? What was your age when you first took a “drag” and where did you get it from (from a parent, friend, store…?)

Why do you think it’s ok to pollute my air (1’ radius around my head) with your disease ridden smoke?

(no- it's not the same as me eating junk food! Junk food has no direct health hazards to another human standing 5' from me!)

Why do you care so little about yourself? Please, no cheesy clichés like ”gotta die someday” or “everything will kill you”…. Those are weak cop-outs!

Really amazed at the ignorance in regards to smoking within the teenage community (and adults)!

Smoking survey- Your First cigarette, how old %26amp; where'd you get it?
I was 10 when I had my 1st. I went to steal a puff from my gramps when he went in the kitchen, but he caught me. Instead of freaking out, he wanted me to know how to smoke it right. So he showed me. He told me never to tell my mother or my gammy. 30 years later, I still haven't.

I became a smoker at 16. I got it from a cigarette machine in a bowling alley. That's how we always got them. They were everywhere. Alley's, gas stations, restaurants.

Now they are non existent.
Reply:I was like 14 and my Mom gave it to me. I told her I wanted to smoke and she started giving me cigarettes whenever I asked for them.

I smoked from the age 14 to the age of 20.

I'm now 23 and I don't smoke anymore!

Yay 4 me!
Reply:Never smoked
Reply:17 years old. My sister gave it to me and continued to buy cigarettes for me until I got a job.

Survey: How many euphemisms can you name for female breasts?

Euphemism: the substitution of an AGREEABLE or INOFFENSIVE expression for one that may offend.

Sure, we all could come up with the name that's very close to, um, Tater Tots. I'm wondering, though, how clever can the Answers Community be in coming up with less offensive nicknames for female breasts.

A few that I have used or heard: Sweater Puppies, The Girls, Thelma %26amp; Louise, etc.

If I inadvertently offend anyone, then my apologies. This question is meant to be in good humor.

2) That can't be answered unless you know the level of expenditures. The budget should be balanced with taxes.

3) Less on war and more on reducing the debt. 40% of tax revenues is spend on our military.

We go 1.49 billion dollars in debt every day. The budget must be balanced.

4) A line item veto is unconstitutional. I like the idea, but our representatives in congress are supposed to be responsible and I believe in the Constitution. Too much power for a President and he becomes a King.
Reply:1. C - It should be eliminated altogether because government having access to your personal financial matters is just about the worst invasion of privacy there is.

2. A - Excessively high rates on high earners only serves to cause significantly more $ to go into tax avoidance and tax shelters, and also causes growth to slow.

3. It should be spent Constitutionally. There is currently no authorization for the federal government to be spending ANY money on entitlements or retirement, on social programs or on physical human community development.

Oh, and let's not forget earmarks! They are simply corruption - they are used to either buy votes or to pay off campaign supporters. IMO, they are criminal.

4. No, I disagree with the line-item veto. I'd rather the president reject every budget submitted to him than give him another tool that would likely just raise partisan acrimony. I'd rather see the Administration work with Congress than simply engaging in partisan hackery.

I'd rather see misuse of the peoples' money, such as earmarks, become a criminal offense.
Reply:1. income tax should progresssive but less (federal fees and licenses increased and sales tax implemented)

2. tax much less than 40...it's about 20-25% for me , so I'd say 15% for me

3. retirements and your so-called "entitlements" were a promise and negotiated in good faith, how can you throw out social security when someone paid into it for 40 years believeing he was to get something out of it.... entitlements are not some freebee given out to undeserving...Its a Bill O'Reilly term that just doesn't mean much.

3. the ratio is about right, but the pork needs to be out in the open. THere will always be pork, but it can be controlled so that more needing things get the money first...require a balanced budget, make it a law

4. no line item veto
Reply:It should be a flat rate supplemented with a national sales tax.

It should not exceed 25%

Your percentages and catagories are made of wholecloth. Currently 75% is not spent on any of the catagories you list.

A line-item veto is absolutely wrong. Where used it has invariably been a political hammer.

2. a.

3. Only as authorized under Article 1, Section 8 of the US Constitution. Read it and you'll find no justification for retirement programs, Medicare, social programs, etc.

4. As much as I like the idea of a line-item veto, there is no provision for it in the Constitution.
Reply:Progressive, nobody pays 40% or more, how it is spent is up to Congress (that's why we elect them), and the line item veto is unconstitutional, so you need to amend the Constitution to consider it (and the US Supreme Court backs me up on that).
Reply:I would like to have no income tax ideologically, but would settle for a flat tax. It doesn't make sense to me to punish people for being successful or working harder.

Less than 30%.

National defense, law enforcement, education, infrastructure.

I would like to see the president with a line-item veto, but not the Frankenstein one that allows you to cross of individual letters and link words together. It's favored to spend more money and virtually impossible to spend less.

2 - question not well-defined for a progressive tax, but I'll say (A) (the top marginal rate should be about 45% but the average is well below that)

3. lower defense/war by about 5% and put that into a health plan.

4. I don't know enough about what that entails...

Makeup Question

Survey: how do (or should) teachers who believe homosexuality is a sin reconcile that with their job?

OK all, before you get all up in arms, read this first. I am in graduate school for education and we're doing a presentation in a multicultural education class about the LGBT community in America. And because some people believe that homosexuality is morally wrong, and because I think some of those people might be in my class, I think it's important to bring up this topic in the presentation: how does, or should, that teacher reconcile their own personal or religious views of gay people with the fact that they very well may have gay or closeted students in their class? Does their religious opinion have no place in that classroom? What if that student asks this teacher for support or advice? This is an open-ended question without a right answer in my mind. I am really just looking for your open and honest opinions, for either side of the issue. Thanks in advance for your candor, and I ask that nobody criticize or slam anyone else's opinion--that's not the point of this!

Survey: how do (or should) teachers who believe homosexuality is a sin reconcile that with their job?
There are a lot of things that I believe are morally wrong, but those are my beliefs. I don't treat people any differently because they don't share those beliefs.

I don't teach in a public classroom - I teach private classes - but if I did, my beliefs would not have any bearing on how I treated my students. My job is to teach my students to reason, to teach them to learn and apply my subject matter, and to prepare them for what they will face later in life. My job is not to form them into little Mini-Me's; it's not to tell them that they have to believe what I do.

I would very likely not discuss my beliefs with my students, especially in a public high school. If my coworkers asked, I would be honest with what I believe and why, but it's not my place to discuss that with my students. Even if I taught an ethics or debate class, I wouldn't bring my own views into it - I would have them research a variety of views, analyze the thoughts and worldviews behind them, and decide for themselves.

My job, as a teacher, is not to promote my own views. It's to give my students the ability to form their own views, to apply the information in meaningful ways, and to function in their future lives.

In respectful response to another answer, and strictly for the sake of the candor that was requested: I, honestly, would take offense at being called a bigot just because I believe that something is morally wrong. A bigot is someone who judges other people, who thinks that they are less than human because of something they are or do. I don't think that. I may not agree with someone's choice, I may not think that it's morally right, but I respect it as their choice. I personally don't think that homosexuality is morally right; however, I also don't think that a person's sexual orientation completely defines who they are. I have many close gay friends; they know my views, but they also know that I love and accept them for who they are, not for what they choose to do in bed. If I had a student come to me with fears, confusion, or something like that on this issue, I would treat them like any other student that came to me. I would listen, I would let them talk things out, and I would let them know that there are people that care about them. I'm a teacher, not a therapist - my job is to give a shoulder and a listening ear. Often, that's what is needed.

I believe that it's important to see a student as a person, rather than as a collection of choices that I may or may not agree with. The world is full of people that we may or may not agree with - that doesn't mean that we can't help each other out. I am willing to teach any student that is willing to learn from me, and I'm willing to listen to any student that needs to talk.
Reply:If it comes up in class discussion, they should just say "Well, in MY opinion . . . but lots of people disagree with me." and drop it. If students push it, the teacher should be firm and explain why he/she doesn't feel it's appropriate to discuss the matter in school. OR, if the teacher does feel it's appropriate, just be sure to be open to the fact that some students are NOT going to agree and that is okay too.
Reply:My students do many things that I think are sinful or morally wrong or whatever you want to call it. (I don't happen to think homosexuality is a sin, but there are MANY more things they do that are). As a teacher, I must not let those things affect me. I am also a very spiritual person. I can't let that spirituality make me judgmental.

I am objective and neutral. I do my job in the classroom. I love and support my students. I accept them as they are.
Reply:Yes, their religious opinion has no place in the classroom. It's not an opinion rooted in fact but in superstition. They need to realize that they hold this prejudice for no good reason. The problem is that many think they DO have a good reason - but they've been lied to. It's just bigotry, and they need to realize that.
Reply:A teacher's job is not to push their own values (or lack thereof) on the students. Thus, there should be no problem.
Reply:You need to leave your religion at the door. Period. In MA, where gay marriage is legal (and I teach) it could mean your job if you didn't. You (and the district) could be sued for discrimination, and the student would win.

The worst experience I ever had was in 10th grade when we read the Bible as "literature" and my teacher couldn't separate herself from the material. As an atheist I've never been more upset or more uncomfortable as I was. It's not that I don't think it can be done, and the Bible is the premier piece of Western Literature, so I even support it being taught, but whether it's the Bible or homosexuality, you need to leave your own opinions at the door.
Reply:A good teacher realizes that every child is unique. A good teacher does not judge a student by gender, race, religion, appearance, or possible sexual orientation. It is a teacher's job to assist every student in their endeavors to be the best they can be. A good teacher checks her/his prejudices and attitudes at the school door in the morning and then takes them home at night. A good teacher listens to her/his answers and asks: am I putting my own personal slant on this? Is it appropriate for me to do so in this situation? A good teacher finds the right person to answer a student's questions, whether it be a teacher, counselor, nurse, or parent.

There is a reason the framers of the Constitution added the bit about separation of Church and State. The true purpose of public education is to create an informed (and indoctrinated) populace to secure the strength and continuance of the State. The purpose of religion is similar: to indoctrinate people into a specific view as set forth by a Church hierarchy and to follow rules that are defined as "faith" to perpetuate the practice of that religion.
Reply:Wow, good question. I don't feel a teacher's personal beliefs on homosexuality should be discussed with a student. Now, if a student goes to a teacher and wants to discuss his/her own feelings and needs some advice, then of course the teacher should listen. The teacher (I believe) should then set the student up with the school counselor or help them find an outside counselor to speak with. I only say that because, regardless of the teacher's beliefs (whether he/she does or does not feel that homosexuality is wrong), the parents of said student could become quite angry at the teacher for giving advice of that nature, either way, to their child. So, I believe it is best left for the counselors.
Reply:1. Legally, due to separation of church and state, a teacher should not share their personal religious views during school hours.

2. If a student were to ask advice after school hours, I would listen as a compassionate teacher should, then offer the suggestion that the school counselor might be more qualified to answer their questions

3. Teachers need to remember that they are NOT placed in that position to judge students, but to EDUCATE them. This does not mean an education in morals and standards. Teachers must remember and respect the fact that students come from a variety of backgrounds and family beliefs. All students are to be treated and educated equally, regardless of sexual preference.

I would highly suggest that any teacher who have difficulty dealing with homosexual students either come to terms with it and leave it be, or find a different profession.

Survey: How many has notice the Star is born section on Yahoo Answers and what do you think?

Yahoo has now made a frequently asked questions (FAQ'S) page covering the basic questions that others have been asking on here and to me as well.

This page is a lot better then the Community Guidelines page, due to it is set up to pin point the question your are seeking and it will take you right to it. It is easier to read and most of all to understand.

WOW!!

Yahoo Answers did a great job.

Here is a * and a thumbs up for their great job.

Here is the link. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Did they do a great job or what?

THat's good.

Maybe the link should be sent to all new members by Y/A.

Survey on Books?

Okay, here's the deal. I'm an amateur game designer, and I want to know a little something from the community. I'm writing a role-playing game, and it's turning out to be quite large.

How many pages should I keep it down to to keep it in the form of one book, and would you buy more than one book (ala D%26amp;D, White Wolf) if I put them out?

Survey on Books?
Great to hear that and yes i would buy more than one book. I love books myself and if i were you i would keep it not too short nor long. 300 -400 pages will do the trick. Good luck!
Reply:I would say 200 to 300 pages is good. I love continuation books.
Reply:Here is a thought. Most books on the stand for $5 bucks are about 300 pages, give or take 50ish pages.

But here is an idea, shrink down your images to get more to a page and make sure to take non-essential words out that are not neccessary. Hope this helps. Live the DREAM!

Survey:Why Are Some Questions Consider A Violation and Others Are Not If They Are Similar?

Questions like: If were a Doctor, what's yours speciality and How would you treat the avator above you? How is this question consider "chantting" ?

Y!A have accepted questions and answers in this site recently and those questions are not "remove"

I have accept "email". IMO, the accuser could have drop me a line or two about my question.

I like to be HAPPY not SAD.

PS; You email customer service for a VALID answer that takes at least week. When they do, I am to refer to the community rules. They should reference my violation under the rules

Survey:Why Are Some Questions Consider A Violation and Others Are Not If They Are Similar?
I don't have the time to do everything the first answerer said - Even though it would probably help. I just know I have one twisted little troll, who likes to hurt and manipulate those around it. I am just going to roll with it, and trust that Karma is a *****!

Of course, Happy bunny could also bounce on it's head...
Reply:theY removed that one?

i liked that one i thought it was totally kewl how you did that one. it seemed like it was a good way to promote people to the site and not only that i kinda wanted to steal the idea... maybe that was why? They realized you were on to something? I mean i never thought of it until you did it and i kinda got the notion in my head but then i thought better than to steal it from you. ha ha

I guess it would end up causing chat in a way but not really but then it could have gotten ugly if people took it and twisted it around you know now that i think of it.. and i HATE to.

But lets say someone got evil but see that is stupid too because there was only like a handful of answerers. Who would have known but the small group there???

I don't understand with all these people on yahoo how the hell they have time to monitor just one person you get what i am saying? It had to be someone on your contact list then or yahoo is out to get us bottom line and has a ton of people working here.

I would start making a note of when it happens and where and how often etc...try to keep tracks.

That is what i am doing. I had a stalker on here. And she was removing all my questions and evidently yahoo didn't care. Do you have a 360?

I got not an answer not a question violation recently. and i though it was a damn good POINT regarding a speech and debate topic.

*edit* i just thought of something.. was it starred?
Reply:Because its people reporting them and Yahoo just deletes them without looking at them.*

How much do you earn? Are you gay? Town Hall chiefs have been ordered to find out?

Every town hall has been ordered to send out surveys demanding local residents' personal information and opinions.

The forms will ask householders to give details of their children, mortgage, ethnic background, religion and sexual orientation.

Civil rights campaigners yesterday called the survey 'intrusive and very sinister', pointing out that any information handed over will not be kept confidential.

But the questionnaire does not ask about householders' attitudes to libraries, rubbish collections or schools - all of which are the responsibility of councils.

Instead, it solicits information on whether people think local parents are controlling their children's behaviour properly and whether different ethnic communities in the area are getting on with each other.

When will the PC crap stop and will it come over here??

How much do you earn? Are you gay? Town Hall chiefs have been ordered to find out?
How do you all like that nice Solcialist Government you have created for yourselves??? Don't whine, don't cry. You idiots KNEW this would happen.

Have you ever read a history book?

You know how conservatives have been warning you about the "slippery slope" you are creating?... Well I too can tell you exactly how this fairy tale will end for you poor subjects.
Reply:People will lie on those forms. They're rubbish and you guys will pay for it with your taxes. Good grief.
Reply:It also says it's not compulsory to answer,or return the questionnaire. So,if I do get one and reply, then it will only have an answer to any question I think is relevant,

This is a Daily Mail report of course,so I'll take it with a pinch of salt
Reply:from your link:

"Unlike the ten-yearly national census, it will not be legally compulsory to fill in and return the form.

However, those who do not comply are likely to be sent multiple reminders"

I would not comply.

What are your ideas for a brochure that explain Yahoo Answers Violations and Suspensions with the violations?

I was suspended a couple of weeks ago. I’ve had alot of time to think, and look good at the reasons that I got some of the violations. Some were false, but some were valid, and I’m sure I didn’t do everything right to be able to keep my account. So what do you think of this idea, send something out like this to everyone who gets a violation? With Some people, you need to spell it out, links don’t work, and you have to show examples. ?

How could you add to this? What are your ideas?

What is Yahoo! Answers?

It’s the place to ask questions and get real answers from real people. It’s fun and educational because you can ask questions on any topic—from the serious to the not so serious. And when you know what’s up, you get to help people out by answering their questions. It’s all about sharing—what you know and what you want to know. So, why keep your gnawing questions and brilliant answers to yourself? Jump in and start sharing!

POINTS!

DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN GET 3 POINTS EVERY TIME YOU VOTE FOR THE BEST ANSWER?

To encourage participation and reward great answers, Yahoo! Answers has a system of points and levels. The number of points you get depends on the specific action you take. The points table below summarizes the point values for different actions. While you can’t use points to buy or redeem anything, they do allow everyone to recognize how active and helpful you’ve been. (And they give you another excuse to brag to your friends.)

How do I ask a question?

It’s easy. Once you’ve logged in, just:

·Click Ask at the top-left corner of any page.

·Type in your question. (Similar questions may appear underneath as you type, so if someone’s asked the same question, you might not have to.)

·Add any details that will help people answer it.

·Select a category for your question.

·Decide whether you want us to send an email sent to you whenever someone answers your question. If not, uncheck the Yes, email me answers as they are posted box.

·Click Preview. If the question looks ok to you, click Submit.

Remember: the clearer your question is, the more likely you’ll get really good answers. Use the Details section to provide additional information and further clarify your question. Taking the time to choose the best category for your question will also help make sure it’s seen by the people most able to answer your question.

For guidelines on what types of questions are acceptable, please refer to our community guidelines.

How do I answer a question?

Each question has a 4-day “open” period during which you can post an answer. Just go to any question in the Open Questions section and click Answer this Question to start. Enter your answer in the Your Answer field and include the URLs of any sources you want to reference in the Source(s) field.

How and when do I put a question up for voting?

You can put a question up for a vote:

·When there are two or more answers to your question.

·After the question has been up for at least 4 hours.

·Within the 4-day open period and before the question expires.

To put a question up for vote:

1.Go to the question.

2.Click Edit in the action bar below the question.

3.Select Ask for a Vote in the edit menu.

If you take no action and the question expires, it automatically goes to a vote.

Can I change my vote once I’ve cast it?

Sorry, no. Once you’ve cast your vote for a Best Answer, you can’t change it.

When does the voting period end?

The voting period is 2 days.

What happens if the vote ends in a tie?

The voting period is extended by periods of 12 hours until the tie is broken.

What is the “No Best Answer” option?

Sometimes there just isn’t a good answer. So when a question goes to vote, No Best Answer appears as an option along with the list of answers.

When a question expires with only one answer, the question automatically goes to a vote, with No Best Answer as the second option.

If an answer is chosen as the best, the question becomes resolved. However, if the No Best Answer option is chosen as best, the question is automatically deleted and the asker of the question gets five points credited back to their Answers account.

How is Yahoo! Answers different from a message board or chat room?

Yahoo! Answers is a place for people to ask and answer questions in order to share knowledge.

Unlike a chat room, Yahoo! Answers is not a place for people to ask each other how they’re doing or “talk” when they’re bored.

Unlike a message board, where a thread of messages can continue indefinitely without ever getting resolved, the questions in Yahoo! Answers are resolved when a best answer is picked. After questions are resolved, members who have reached Level 2 can rate the Best Answer and everyone in the community can continue to share their opinions.

How can Answers users contact each other?

No one can contact you unless you explicitly allow it. When you set up your answers profile you tell us what contact information you’d like other users to see. You choose whether or not you’d like users to be able to contact you via email, Yahoo! Instant Messenger, or Yahoo! 360. Your Answers profile asks you to choose a setting for the following options:

·Nickname: if you choose to use your Yahoo messenger ID as your Answers nickname, Answers users may use it to contact you via messenger.

·Communications:

Email Setting: Selecting this box allows Answers to facilitate email communications with other Answers users (all email addresses are kept confidential.)

Yahoo! Messenger Settings: Selecting this box allows Answers users to see your instant message ID and contact you via Yahoo! Messenger.

·Sharing:

Yahoo! 360 Settings: Selecting this box allows Answers users to see your 360 page.

·About me: This field is optional. Anything you enter into the text box will be visible to the public.

Contact permissions are always controlled by you in your Answers profile. To make changes to your profile and contact permission settings, go to My Q%26amp;A and select the Edit My Info link.

Email: When you enable email communications, Answers never shows your email address to the recipient (neither on the email nor on your profile page.) The only way to reply to Answers email is by clicking the reply link within the email and sending the message through Yahoo! Answers. If a person doesn’t have their email communications enabled, you won’t be able to send them an email message.

Messenger: Your instant message ID will be seen publicly on your profile page if you enable IM communications.

Please remember that chatting and posting your email address in your questions or answers are violations of Answers community guidelines, so please communicate to each other through the IM and email features instead.

Does it cost money to participate in Yahoo! Answers?

Nope, that’s one of the best things about Yahoo! Answers—it’s absolutely free. All you have to do is log in to your Yahoo! account to share in the wealth of knowledge generated by the Yahoo! Answers community.

How does the scoring system work?

To thank the Yahoo! Answers community for great answers, we give points for various actions. The points help you build your reputation on Yahoo! Answers and show the world what you have to offer. You need points to ask a question but you can quickly earn the points back by resolving your question and by giving an answer that’s picked as best.

The points table linked below summarizes how many points you get for each of the different actions you take. The points allow the community to recognize how active and helpful you’ve been, and they give you another excuse to brag to your friends.

http://answers.yahoo.com/info/scoring_sy...

The levels mark your activity and show what Answers usage privileges you earned. The more points you accumulate, the higher your level, and the more privileges you get. We’re planning some exciting things for Yahoo! Answerers, so stay tuned!

I have multiple Yahoo! accounts. Can I use these accounts to participate as different people?

No, you cannot. Using multiple accounts to participate at Yahoo! Answers is a violation of Community Guidelines and may result in the suspension of your accounts. Please refer to our Community Guidelines for guidance on acceptable behavior.

This was sent from the YAT and it answered one person’s violations.

I would like to see that kind of customer service again.

Here’s a letter explaining what is expected.

Thanks for contacting me directly, I appreciate it.

I looked at your deletions, and have explanations for them below. I’m sure you already know that Answers is not a chat site or discussion board. Therefore, polling/surveying/and chatting questions are removed. There are a lot of them, so sometimes we can’t get them all immediately, but this doesn’t mean they’re ok.

Also, there’s a big misconception in the community about the way abuse reporting works. Let me try to clarify: each abuse report is reviewed by a customer care agent, and an action is taken (this could mean no action as well). The number of times something has been reported and by whom has absolutely no bearing on whether or not deletion or suspension ensues. To ensure the highest level of fairness, each report is checked against our community guidelines and determined whether it is in violation. We also proactively monitor the site, so sometimes a deletion occurs even without a report.

As for your deletions:

Whose Questions do you look forward to?

- This is a polling/chatting question. You’re not asking a knowledge question, but engaging other users in chat. This question would be ok in the forum, and we wouldn’t delete it there.

57 Points to Level 6 !!!! Want to help me get there? If you DO...see details.? and I would like 100 answers to this Question.....Would you Answer it for me please?

- We consider this point-gaming, a serious offense. You will notice that people who write things like “10 points for the best joke!”, “10 points for the first answer!” and “thanks for the two points” are deleted. Points are meant to reward legitimate, good questions and answers, and not to reward people who solicit them.

So, I said, Do you love me??? Or my Cat............?

- This is also a polling/chatting question. The most common appearance of this is “Do you like my avatar?” We delete these when we see them. It was a mistake for Matt to answer this question—it shouldn’t have been done because it gives the impression that questions like these are ok, and I apologize for that. I will communicate this with the rest of our team to make sure it doesn’t happen.

I hope these explanations are satisfactory. We know you don’t have bad intentions, and you are not in danger of a suspension.

Regards,

Amy

Suggestions from The Yahoo Community so you can enjoy your time here, not get violations:

Ask smart questions, be clear and concise in what you mean…

Good examples:

Question:

My 5 week old has infant acne and he’s having his picture made Thursday.?

Additional Details:

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting it to clear up? I’ve kept it washed good, but haven’t put any medicine or any other product on it to help get rid of it yet. I’d like to get it cleared up as much as I can by Thursday.

Can you pregnant while on the birth control pill?

My friend said she got pregnant both times on the pill. Can you really get pregnant if you take them like you are suppose to. I haven’t gotten pregnant but she has managed to get pregnant twice.

It gives enough info, so a good answer could be given.

Bad Examples:

Me m8 is a ginger, wat is wrong with him?

gingers

Can you get sick from eating your own boogers?

I would like your thoughts on this and any additions you could think of?

What are your ideas for a brochure that explain Yahoo Answers Violations and Suspensions with the violations?
READ MY ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION

the rules are so open here for anyone at anytime for any reason they want too

yahoo made them that way dont know why but they did

i got reported for the answer i gave one time it was

YES

now how can YES can be wrong

i cant see what yahoo is doing
Reply:I have just been barred from euchre unlike some of the comments I didnt even say gg maybe yahoo admin just gets bored and thought it was time to bar me. lol actually I didnt get time to say gg

have sent a email to yahoo but it is a automated answer so will just have to grin and bear it Report Abuse

Reply:your name is sex so you are the target Report Abuse

Reply:I don't think a brochure would help any more than the Guidelines site does now =(
Reply:I think they need a new way of dealing with the problems they are having.

suspension is a euphanism it is not true suspension is TEMPORARY a permament revocation is like chopping off you hand. it is too draconian.

your explanation for the question is too long and has inaccuracies.

First question are NOT open for four DAYS. they might be open that long but many people close out question within hours of posting them.

They need to have a short but direct statement that says in effect.

BE POLITE. DO NOT INSULT OTHERS. DO NOT MAKE FUN OF OTHERS QUESTIONS OR ANSWERS. NO CUSSING.

Stupid questions posted just for gaming purposes will be deleted and (double)points taken away THIS INCLUDES ANSWERS TOO... if you can lose double for answering a gross "joke" then you might think twice about answering it.

now there is no penalty for it.

I have noticed a decline in the quality of the questions this last month.

There needs to be a sliding scale to the penaltys for "bad content" posts and an explanation of what is "bad content"

I suggest just 5pt loss for the first violation and increasing by 5 each violation ie: 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50 all minus that way each 'bad content' incident is proportionaly penalized.

also special penaltys for cussing and direct insults like -25 or -50 per pop.

Another idea is to limit the person to level one posting limits no matter what their level is When they have posted 'bad content'

I think it would be best if they broke the rules down into sections.

several short sections would be easier to read...

One on how to post. one on how the points system works.

one on what is 'bad content' and the penalties for such stuff.
Reply:most people don't even know there are guidelines, let alone read them. A pamphlet would make no difference. The only ones who would bother looking at it are the ones who already understand and keep to the community guidelines already in existence
