Should Y!A survey its users to see what's right and wrong, according to various people?

I ask because I see conflict between users on what's right %26amp; wrong, e.g., some say they report real abuse and the questions are NOT removed fast enough, and others say questions not in violation of the Community Guidelines ARE removed immediately....those types of things...

Should Y!A survey its users to see what's right and wrong, according to various people?
I think there needs to be a better appeals system in place, that looks into odd issues that crop up from time to time.

There are people getting multiple violations in bulk, some which are repeats of older previous reported ones.

From what I understand each is judged on its own merits and the method of the attack is not being addressed and if there isn't some type of ganging up on others, who are succeeding very well.

That in itself is a violation. Violations en masse is just the type of thing yahoo use to delete accounts.

How many successful users will be deleted by this method will it take before Yahoo take their heads out of the sand I hear you ask, probably dozens.

There needs to be more human input on Yahoo to address the issues you have brought up, instead a computer generated response.
Reply:That would be a good idea! I am sure YA would be flooded with responses with which they won't be able to cope! This is indeed a sore point with many members.

It would be better if YA also paid a little more attention to the appeals they receive for violation notices and see if the appeals are really justified. It appears that abuse reports, violation notices and appeals are being dealt with in a perfunctory manner. If these could be improved, I am sure the complaints would be minimized.

I however doubt if YA has the necessary staff resources to conduct this survey and take action!
Reply:This place is a popularity contest. If the average user sees stuff that violates the terms, they don't do anything unless they already dislike the user who posted the questionable stuff. They they report it as quick as possible.

I once answered a question with "yes" or something like that, an answer that at least a half dozen people before me had posted, but I was the only one whose answer was deleted. That tells me that only I got reported because I'm not popular.

Yes, something needs to be done about the situation but Yahoo doesn't seem to be doing anything about it.
Reply:You have a point my Friend. But I doubt if Y/A will take any step towards this suggestion.

Y/A users are mostly people who are out for fun coupled with those who wants instant gratification. However there are those who wants answers. real answers.

I joined Y/A seeking to help people as well as find answers to my problems. but i have had multiple account deleted. so I decided not to take Y/A serious anymore. but rather have fun.

However these my notions wil undoubtedly change if yahoo answers makes a complete restructuring based on age, gender, disposition as well as the question's category.

Yours is a sound reasoning. but don't forget that one man's meat is another man's poison.

We have different notions on what is right and what is wrong based on the individual.

Keep it up!
Reply:I think the problem is apathy, "it's no skin off my nose" approach.

As long as it doesn't affect them personally they don't care.

As it takes several reports to create a violation in the first place it, need people to object.

It is a matter of personal standards and interpretation of the Guidelines.
