Reply:Yes, I take my children (twin, 13 mo old boys) to day care 2 days a week and have a non live-in nanny (more of a "mother's helper) pick them from day care/help my MIL (who lives with us) with child care for the other days. The nanny comes between 3-5 full days a week, depending on the week. We pay her a flat rate regardless of how many days she works (3500 per month). Sometimes I don't need her, and would prefer her not to come to have "alone" time with my family on the weekends.

Not really. It's much cheaper this way than having a live-in nanny (which would be the only other option for our lifestyle).

Yes, I think that they are terribly expensive and after paying for the gas to get to work and then for child care I don't think you make that much more money....if you are in a 2 income family.
