1. I have six cats. One was stray who started giving birth my front porch. We took her in and she gave birth to four kitchens. We kept her and the kitchens and had all of the cats spayed or neutered. We've had the five of them for four and a half years now. Our other cat was a kitten that my sister-in-laws friend was giving away, so we adopted him and had him neutered.

2. Yes, absolutely, unless the person intends to breed them and has plans to keep or sell/give the offspring to loving homes. There are way too many stray cats and dogs roaming around, fighting for survival. Although, none of our three dogs were strays (however, one was an abused German Shepard mutt who lived a good part of her life tied in a garage until we adopted her). Of all the cats that I've had in my lifetime, excluding the six already mentioned, 4/6 were strays that either showed at my house, or in the case of one cat, showed up at my school.

4. Pet overpopulation is a current crisis. There are more unwanted strays than oving homes to take them in. As a result, they have to endure the heat and the snow on their own wild being at risk for problems like rabies and feline leukemia.

5. Pets should go to the Vet at least once a year to get their shot records updated and get checked out.

6. The two nerarest humane societies are each twenty minutes away. However, our vet's office is conveiently located right down the street.

1. If you currently have a pet how did you obtain it? If you currently do not have a pet or you wanted get another one, where would you go to get one? i HAVE A PET BIRD I GOT FROM A BREEDER IN A DIFFERENT CITY, I DO WANT A NOTHER BIRD AND A DOG PLAN TO GET FROM BREEDER OR SHELTER!

2. Do you think it is important that dogs and cats are spayed or neutered? Why or why not? I GUESS SO IT SAVES SOME MONEY WHEN YOU PET COMES HOME PRAGO!!! AND SOMETIMES IT TAMES THEM DOWN A BIT FROM WHAT I HEARD (I HAVE A BIRD THO)

3. If there was a big change in your life such as moving or having a baby, what would you do with your pet(s)? BIRDS ARE HIGHLY JELOUS ANIMALS - MY PARTNER AND I TALKED ABOUT IT AND THINK IT MAY BE BEST WHEN WE HAVE KIDS TO GIVE THE PET BIRD TO MY MOM UNTILL BABY IS OLDER THEN BRING DUDE THE BIRD BACK!

4. What is pet overpopulation? - SOMEONE WHO LIVES WITH 20 CATS!~ LOL

5. How often should pets go to a veterinarian? i DON'T KNOW THAT COST MONEY IF IT WERE FREE I SAY 1 TIME EVER 2-5 YEARS OR ANNUALLY!

1) I have a miniature poodle that I was given to me free of charge by a breeder.

2) Yes. There are too many dogs and cats that are homeless and are needlessly put to sleep. Although my dog is a thouroughbred, I still had him neutered.

3) My pet is part of our family and nothing will change that.

4) Take a look around you. In almost any city, suburb, rural area...any place, there are stray cats and dogs that are homeless. This is pet over population.

5) A healthy pet should go to the vet for a check up at least once a year if possible. And of course, if any problems arrive then as needed.

6) I live in a very small town and we haven't any real shelter to speak of. The closest shelter that I know of (and have been to) is an hour and twenty minutes away.
Reply:I find it interesting that you did not address any issues regarding animal breeders %26amp; puppie mills. Approximately 400,000 purebred puppies enter shelters. This represents less than .005% of all dogs in the United States.

Good luck with your survey....

Please answer the following questions honestly and completely.

1. If you currently have a pet how did you obtain it?

THE CANINE WAS A BIRTHDAY GIFT. SHE IS STILL A WONDERFUL GIFT FOR ME. "DOMESTIC ALLIES" (PETS) BRING LAUGHTER, SMILES, COMFORT TO MOST BEINGS.

If you currently do not have a pet or you wanted get another one, where would you go to get one? N/A

2. Do you think it is important that dogs and cats are spayed or neutered? YES

Why or why not?

REDUCE THE MILLIONS OF PETS BEING DESTROYED IN OUR NATION SHELTERS. OFTEN YOU CANNOT FIND PEOPLE WILLING TO ADOPT A "MUTTLY" PUPPY.

3. If there was a big change in your life such as moving or having a baby, what would you do with your pet(s)?

THE CANINE STAYS WITH MY FAMILY. NO EXCEPTIONS.

4. What is pet overpopulation?

NO ABSOLUTE DEFINTION, ONLY AN OPINION... "AN OVER ABUNDANCE OF AN ANIMAL(S), IN WHICH HUMANS ARE NOT WILLING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, (i.e. place in a permanent home)."

5. How often should pets go to a veterinarian?

My CANINE, RECEIVES AN ANNUAL CHECKUP.

6. Where is your area shelter or humane society?

DOWNEY, CA.
Reply:male, 41 plus, caucasian, suburban

1. If you currently have a pet how did you obtain it?

Birds saved from death, due to injury unable to return to wild.

Dog due to owner not wanting it any more

2. Do you think it is important that dogs and cats are spayed or neutered? Why or why not?

Yes-because it cuts down on unwanted baby animals that end up dumped or abused

3. If there was a big change in your life such as moving or having a baby, what would you do with your pet(s)?

A pet is for life so you include it in your plans

4. What is pet overpopulation?

Is when a person has too many pets that makes it impossible to care for them properly

5. How often should pets go to a veterinarian?

When showing signs of sickness or when shots are due

6. Where is your area shelter or humane society?

local council impound yard or SPCA
Reply:female, 19-40, caucasian, rural

1. picked up beside the road: 1 dog, 2 cats; adopted out of abusive situations: 1 shetland pony; taken from homes where they were no longer wanted: 1 guniea pig, 2 hermit crabs; actually purchased or bred on farm: 14 chickens, 60 angus cattle

2. Yes it is important to get animals spayed an neutered. Why? So my farm wouldn't be over run with everyone elses non-responsibilities. I can't stand to see a homeless animal, so I pick them up, get them vet checked/spayed and try to find them a home, if I can't I keep them. This is the least amount of animals I have had in the last 13 years... there has been times I have almost went broke.

3. If I moved, I would take them with me! What else would you do? They are members of the family. I don't see why a pregnancy would have to have any affect on pet ownership, although I know some people use it as an excuse.

4. Pet overpopulation is simply to many animals and not enough homes.... Am I doing your homework?

5. Once a year for shots and check up.. as needed if sick or hurt

6. We do not have an area humane society or closest shelter is in another state. Hubby laughs and says I am the shelter... good thing he's good natured.
Reply:I will do my best!
