Concerning the "American Community Survey", did anyone notice the question on ethnic origin?

Having been one of the lucky ones %26quot;chosen%26quot; by the Census Bureau to fill out this survey.... did anyone notice when they asked for your ethnic origin they did not give %26quot;American%26quot; as a possible answer? Why is this? If you go to Europe, do you think they consider you an Italian American or an African American or a Norwegian American? Heck (being nice) NO! You are just a disgusting American. And that is what I put as my ethnic origin. My ethnic origin is %26quot;AMERICAN%26quot;!!! How many generations have to be born in America before we can stop this nonsense and just say we are AMERICANS! I%26#039;ll bet dollars to donuts they call me about my answer but I will not change it. I am simply an American. That is my heritage and my ethnicity, pure and simple! Oh and to add..... What another big waste of our taxpayer money! I wonder how many millions of dollars this bunch of crap cost us?|||Yep ... you are correct about the Consensus Surveys. Most Americans are just stupid and unawares to realize the dissent and %26quot;ill-ways%26quot; this data is used, and %26quot;WHO%26quot; uses it !!.

In fact, the US is the only country globally that places questions like %26quot;race%26quot;, ethnicity on applications for employment, loan applications, etc ... this info is used in ways contrary to %26quot;freedoms%26quot;, %26quot;liberties%26quot;, and the %26quot;Bill of Rights%26quot;.

Correction: The Patriot Act has now expunged these rights (in the name of security and protection).

Nothing more ignorant than the %26quot;easily duped American that thinks they have something that others don%26#039;t have. The same attitude that eventually lead to the demise of the Greco-Roman civilization (and others).|||You are confusing ethnicity with nationality. Nationality is where you live and what your culture is. Ethnicity is where your ancestors originated from, and cannot change because it is in your genes. Ethnicity is very important in many ways (for example, certain ethnicities are more prone to certain diseases) and brushing your ethnicity under the table and saying you%26#039;re %26quot;American%26quot; doesn%26#039;t help anything. If you are white then say you are white. If not, then say what you are. It%26#039;s not rocket science, cut out the whining and use your common sense.|||I hate it for you that you had to even do that stupid census. I see it as an intrusion and very nosey. What purpose does the census really have?? I%26#039;m sure it%26#039;s just another way besides screening everyone%26#039;s phone calls to find out what they need to know so they can influence changes to use against us.

Yes, I%26#039;m a true blooded American but I don%26#039;t do the census.

My fiance was presented a survey by a census bureau person and he handed it back to them and said %26quot;you don%26#039;t have anything on here worth signing and I don%26#039;t think I should give you any information I don%26#039;t want you to have.%26quot; They left and he never heard anything from it again.

The government needs to stop wasting money and paper to make these stupid surveys.|||They do have that category--except it is called %26quot;native American.%26quot; The rest of us are immigrants or descended from immigrants.|||The Western Hemisphere and Australia are different than the rest of the world in that their nations have been relatively recently populated by immigration from the %26quot;Old World%26quot;. The question of ethnicity in the USA has been made important enough to survey because a large majority of its population has caused serious social problems for some of its minorities, costing much blood and treasure.

This problem has been somewhat reduced in the last two generations, but it still has a long way to go. For example, we are six generations removed from Lincoln%26#039;s Emancipation Proclamation, but the only reason that Bush is in the White House is that most of the white people in the South won%26#039;t vote for a %26quot;n******-loving liberal%26quot;.

You may call yourself an American, but do you vote for full rights for all other cititzens? Uncle Sam wants to know.|||American isnt an ethnicity... it would be caucasian, thats what white americans (and Europeans) fall into.
